RCLC ENL Preschool Program

Meli reigns from the West Side of South Bend and is a graduate of Indiana University with a BFA in Drawing and Painting and a double minor in Art History and Sculpture. Meli is passionate about enriching the lives of students in art and the importance it holds in early childhood education. They have several years experience volunteering in preschools and 3 years experience teaching art to all ages.

Allie is an AmeriCorps member serving with Adult Education of South Bend Community School Corporation. She has a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies, a certificate in Global French, and a minor in Portuguese. She wrote her undergraduate thesis on soybean farming in Brazil. She is an avid polyglot, traveler, and food and garden enthusiast.

RCLC Youth Development Program

Nicholas graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2018 with a degree in Biological Anthropology. His research broadly focused on issues related to poverty alleviation and community health. At the Robinson Center, Nicholas will work with the Youth Development team to provide academic support and enrichment to students in grades 1 through 12. He is excited about the opportunity to work with young people and increase the scope of our Program's impact.

RCLC Makerspace Program

Erin is a full time AmeriCorps member serving in the Makerspace. She is a South Bend native and a recent graduate from Georgetown University. Before joining the RCLC team, Erin was a Fulbright Scholar teaching English in Madrid, Spain. She is excited to be working in the Makespace this year and hopes to encourage design thinking and further the maker movement through her work.

Samantha is a returning full time AmeriCorps Literacy Corps member serving as the ENL Preschool coordinator.  Samantha is a South Bend Native. She graduated from Saint Joseph High School and continued her studies at Holy Cross College and graduated with her bachelors from Indiana University. Samantha is married with 4 daughters who are thirteen, ten, eight, and five.  She continues to think of Andy Kostielney as her greatest role model.

Connor is from Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2020 with a degree in English and Classics. He has been around Shakespeare since his sophomore year of college, when he joined the Not-So-Royal Shakespeare company. He enjoys running, Latin, and caring for his pet snail, Simon.

Angela is a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame with an Art History major, Spanish supplementary major, and Latino Studies minor. She is a proud San Antonian who loves art, Tex-Mex, and her two kittens Mia and Manu. She is eager to serve at El Campito Child Development Center where she hopes to learn more about early childhood education through her position as Volunteer Coordinator.

Lia is a recent graduate from Marquette University with a double major in Criminology & Law Studies and Anthropology. She is passionate about restorative justice and the environment. She grew up in South Bend and is excited to be back learning about her community and working alongside South Bend partners to teach and implement Take Ten principles.

Abby is a full-time AmeriCorps member serving at the Boys & Girls Club in St Joseph County. She is a recent graduate from the University of Dayton, with a major in English. Abby is a South Bend native and excited to be back working within her community enabling young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential.

Notre Dame Center for Civic Innovation

Isabel is a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame with an English major and Anthropology and Gender Studies minors. She is a Chicago native who is eager to experience more of the South Bend community. With a background in museum education, specifically at the Snite Museum of Art and the Field Museum, Isabel is passionate about bringing learning to informal and unconventional spaces like the Notre Dame Center for Civic Innovation.

Moreau College Initiative

Sage is serving her second AmeriCorps year with the Moreau College Initiative, a college-in-prison partnership between the University of Notre Dame and Holy Cross College, which offers AA and BA degree programs to incarcerated students at Westville Correctional Facility. Sage holds an MA in Philosophy and Education from Teachers College Columbia University, and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Wyoming. Sage is passionate about equity in education, teacher development, and unpacking philosophical theories of education. In addition to her AmeriCorps position, Sage is an adjunct instructor at Holy Cross College. She enjoys hiking, dancing (badly), and playing with her dog, Maeve.
