Take Ten T-Shirt Art, Slogan and Creative Writing Competition
Students are given the opportunity to design a Take Ten T-shirt or write a poem, short story, or essay about Take Ten and the impact that it has had on their school. A winning entry is chosen from each category and those are presented at the annual Take Ten Festival, held on Thursday, April 30th, 2015. The overall winning artwork then becomes the design for that year’s new Take Ten T-shirt, which is sponsored by Notre Dame Federal Credit Union.
Take Ten Festival
All students in grades 3-8, together with their teachers and Take Ten volunteers, who participated in Take Ten during the year, are invited to the festival. The festival is held on Thursday, April 30th, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. at the Stepan Center at the University of Notre Dame. All the students wear their new Take Ten T-shirts and participate in an afternoon filled with games, food, entertainment (Notre Dame’s First Class Steppers are the favorite!) and often a city representative such as the Mayor, the Superintendent of Schools, or Chief of Police addresses the children about the important steps they are taking toward non-violence.
Fall 2014 Take Ten Poster Competition
Children in participating schools and community locations create and design Take Ten posters. A winning poster is chosen from each site. Each poster has the name, school, and grade of the child who designed it on the back. The winning entries are then distributed to each child and teacher at the participating school or other location. Take Ten also holds an awards ceremony at the Robinson Community Learning Center to recognize all the winners and enjoy a time of food, entertainment and socializing.
