FOR SENIORS
Lunch & Learn Lecture Series
The Robinson Center and Notre Dame Downtown sponsor this series on the fourth Monday of each month. Lunch is provided through our generous sponsors, and a different speaker is invited each month to discuss issues relevant to seniors, generally in the areas of living at home, security, legal issues, taxes, and protection from fraud and deception. Nearly 600 seniors participated in 10 Lunch and Learn events in 2010.
Computer Clubs
Three seniors computer clubs run on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, with a combined membership of 45, from Labor Day to Memorial Day.
Book Club
Seniors meet for 10-12 week sessions to discuss a variety of books.
Fitness
Seniors meet every Friday morning for an hour of fun and exercise. Activities include – Wii Sports, walking, and different exercise videos.
Knitting
Seniors meet every Friday to work on various knitting projects.
FOR ALL ADULTS
Technology Training
Technology training at the RCLC centers on the use of personal computers. The one-hour class meets on Wednesday evenings, for eight weeks, with each training cycle covering a different topic.
English as a New Language
Since the Center’s opening, it has enjoyed a partnership with the South Bend Community School Corporation, which provides on-site instruction for adults in the areas of English. Beginning and literacy levels are taught. New student intake takes place Friday mornings. Call the SBCSC Bendix Building at 283-7505 for times, locations, and more information.
Yoga
Through a partnership with Notre Dame’s RecSports department, a certified yoga instructor is provided for a Monday evening class, from 6:00-7:00 pm. The cost for this 9 week session is $20.
Zumba
Through a partnership with Notre Dame’s RecSports department, a certified Zumba instructor is provided for a Friday evening class, from 5:45-6:45 pm. The cost for the session is $20.
Health
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center provides a nurse on the fourth Monday of every month to provide a variety of medical tests, and to answer routine questions.
Through St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) also provides a broad ranges of health screenings and services from the RCLC parking lot at different times during the year.
