Winners Announced in the 2016 Idea Pitch Competition

Students from across South Bend and Mishawaka came to the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, on December 6, to compete in the 2016 Idea Pitch Competition.  

More than 35 students came to the Gigot Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, with each student having 60 seconds to sell their idea or product to a panel of expert judges. The judges used a grading rubric based on poise, delivery, creativity and practicality. …

I-Robotics Team Advances to State Competition

The I-Robotics team has advanced to the Indiana First Lego League State Competition!

It was a great competition that came right down to the wire.  Their research presentation scored very well, as did their core values and robot technical presentations. 

In addition, their robot won a first place award (out of 38 teams) for Mechanical Design which recognizes a team that designs and develops a mechanically sound robot that is durable, efficient, and highly capable of performing challenge missions.…

Local youth are taking South Bend by storm with the first ever "Ignite Michiana" event. It allows students to express their passions in the community.

A dozen students gave speeches on things like Shakespeare and the history of South Bend.

Literacy Tutoring Available

We have openings in our after school literacy tutoring program for students in kindergarten through sixth grade.  

The tutoring takes place at the RCLC from 4:00 to 4:50pm, every Monday through Thursday.

Velshonna Luckey receives 2016 Executive Journey Fellowship

Velshonna Luckey has been awarded a 2016 Executive Journey Fellowship.

She is one of 29 youth workers statewide receiving the fellowship, which has been annually awarded since 2002. Funded by the Lilly Endowment Inc., the fellowship provides Indiana’s youth workers greater opportunities to bring more meaning to their lives and make stronger commitments to the field. The fellows attend a series of residential retreats designed to create new ways of thinking about and practicing youth work within existing systems and youth programs, are awarded individual renewal scholarships, and are supported to make a difference within their local organizations or communities.…
